Thank you to the team at the Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital for the care and compassion shown to me and Ky during our visit. I could tell everyone on the team has a genuine love for animals and felt Ky was in good hands with them. The vet and vet techs really took the time to listen to my concerns, review all her past medical records, run appropriate tests and communicate everything to me in advance so there were no surprises when it came time for payment. We are treating her at home with the medications and hope she recovers soon. Thank you again to everyone on the team for making a stressful day a little easier on us.
On September 26th 2025, I took my cat to the emergency vet because I thought she was pooping blood. When they checked and confirmed it was just urine, I realized it was a normal issue for her; she just needed a new water fountain. In hindsight, I should have left right then. However, I was charged over $400 just for a consultation, and they tried to pressure me into paying even more. When I signed the paperwork for the medical history, it indicated that I would be charged around $200, so I was shocked when the final bill was so high. I had to max out my credit card for this visit, leaving me without food for myself or my cats. The vet told me my cat might have Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), even though I explained that she had experienced similar issues in the past. The vet told me that 80% of cats get CKD, which scared me. I ended up crying during the visit. The vet then mentioned that if I wanted to pursue further examination, the bill would rise to around $1,000, she even talked about me surrendering my cat or putting her down just to make sure I felt the pressure. I declined because I knew that my cat just needed a new water fountain. When I mentioned taking her home, the vet told me that they would have someone check on me to ensure I was taking proper care of my cat. I felt as if I was being treated like a negligent pet owner. I regret going there. In a time when money is so tight, they took advantage of me and wanted even more. There was no compassion, only a business mentality trying to milk their clients. I've been home with my cat and the new fountain, and she is fine, but I still owe them money—money I feel was unjustly charged. No medical equipment was used, and charging $400 is outrageous. If you read all the negative reviews, you’ll see that they exploit their clients' love for their animals. It’s disgusting, and they should be ashamed.
Called ahead as I was directed here from my local vet. As soon as I walked in, I was met with compassion and immediate attention. We thought Krusty had a stroke, but relieved we were to find out that it was a lot less serious. Owning a 16 year old husky can be mentally taxing when things come up but all the staff were helpful and kind. Our doctor ran through everything we needed to do, was very clear about costs vs benefits and never pressured us once. After opting for in home monitoring and a follow up with my local vet I was sent on my way with medication, prescriptions and information for the next vet. The prescription was hard to find but the receptionist and techs were very helpful in advising me after the fact, on how to find it. -1 for cost. But I do understand this is unavoidable for emergency hospitals. All in all a very good experience. I'm glad to have found them. As an extra, addressing me by name and krusty by name was a very good extra that helped me feel welcome
We brought our unconscious parrot who had just drowned into emergency. He was in critical condition and as soon as we step foot into the ER the team immediately grabbed our little boy and helped bring him back to life. He stayed overnight with the staff who cared deeply for him and they would constantly update his state, we got emails and photo messages of him. Because of you guys our little parrot is back with us, healthy and stable. I want to thank the entire team at Lola street veterinary hospital for being there for my sweet baby. <3 Really reccomend this place if you are needing help with your birds.
