Recently visited Desi Bar and Grill in Markham in search of good food, but the experience didn’t meet expectations. I’ve tried their Brampton location earlier and this visit didn’t change my opinion. The saying “expensive food doesn’t always mean tasty food” really fits here. ⸻ What I liked: • Ambience: Modern, loud, and full of party vibes. Great for people who enjoy music and a club-like feel. • Service: Staff was polite and attentive. • Drink: Delhi Wala Banta is always my go-to, and just like other locations, it tasted great. ⸻ Where things went wrong (Food): I ordered Creamy Chilli Chicken, Champaran Chicken, Garlic Naan, Rumali Roti, and drinks. • Creamy Chilli Chicken: Tasted like previously fried chicken heated and mixed with raw bell peppers & cream. Not fresh and too salty. • Champaran Chicken: Chicken and gravy tasted completely separate, like chicken was cooked/fried first and gravy poured later. • Rumali Roti: Felt frozen; edges were cold and hard. • Garlic Naan: Fresh but again too salty for my liking. For the pricing, I expected far better taste & freshness. ⸻ Gratuity & Billing Experience: They charge 20% automatic gratuity, even if you’re only two people. Staff did inform us about the gratuity beforehand, which I appreciate. However, later I noticed a reply from the restaurant stating that gratuity applies only after 10 PM during DJ hours, and from 12 PM to 10 PM there is no gratuity. That was completely untrue in my case—I was there at 8 PM, no DJ night, yet still charged 20%. They also mentioned in comments that a free drink is provided to balance the gratuity, but no one informed us about any complimentary drink offer, and I ended up paying for both drinks I ordered. If that policy exists, it should be mentioned by staff clearly at the table, which didn’t happen. ⸻ Final Verdict: Great ambience, good service, and a nice drink experience—but food quality felt average and not worth the high price. For the amount they charge, freshness and flavor should be much better. With premium pricing + automatic gratuity + no clarity on policies + disappointing food, I personally wouldn’t return for dining. Might work for drinks and vibe, but not recommended for food if you care about value and taste.

The place is nice they have great food and drinks but the noise is too loud. If you don’t want a headache don’t go on a weekend night. We went with our friends and ordered quite a few dishes which were all great.

Came here after Boston Pizza became packed. The staff were very friendly and very accomodating for my group. The food is delicious. They could blast the food with spice, but didn't, so it's all really balanced. Their momos, garlic fries, and peanuts are amazing bar food. Would totally go again.

Had dinner at this Indian restaurant in Markham and was quite impressed with both the food and the service. The dishes were full of flavor and the staff was attentive throughout. The only issue was the music being far too loud, making it difficult to talk at the table. If that gets adjusted, it would be a great spot overall.
