Dr.surrette and his staff were amazing. The feedback provided, including time and effort spent towards my appointment was exceptional. My cat responded well to everything as always. As long as he’s happy so am I. - 😸

We took our 13-year-old dog, Jesse here after noticing he was keeping his eye closed. The vet told us it was only a scratch and sent us home with drops. She completely failed to recognize that it was actually a serious infection. Six days later, when his eye had gotten worse, we returned, and only then was a different medication prescribed. We were told that if it didn’t work, we should just go to the emergency clinic. None of their treatments worked, and because of this misdiagnosis and delay, the infection spread. In the end, we were forced to put our beloved dog down. On top of this devastating loss, they charged us nearly $1,000 for medications and visits that did nothing. Their mistake cost us our dog’s life.

I had an appointment for my puppy on August 8th at 4:30 PM. Due to a cancelled flight the day before, I landed in Toronto that afternoon, picked up my dog, and headed straight to the clinic. I called on the way to explain I would be 14 minutes late, which was completely beyond my control. They told me they could see my dog if I arrived by 4:44 PM, but not at 4:45 PM. When I calmly asked why one minute made such a difference, I was told “it’s the clinic’s policy” and that I “wasn’t understanding.” I was first told missing the vaccine would mean restarting the whole schedule, then later told it was fine to do it after August 11. When I asked for clarification, they confirmed vacine can wait so I asked for appointment for Tuesday - Aug 12. I was put on hold for 10 minutes. I called back from another number and was then told they would no longer accept my dog as a patient, late on a Friday afternoon, leaving me scrambling to find another vet with no clear answer on whether missing the vaccine was a problem. At NO point was I rude or disrespectful, I simply asked questions about their protocol and the vaccine timeline. Refusing care to a young puppy in this situation, especially with inconsistent medical information, is not what I would expect from a professional veterinary clinic. What makes this even more disappointing is that I have been a client of this clinic , with my mother’s dog, and I had also taken a cat there in the past (where a mistake in a spay quote made me go elsewhere for that procedure). Despite that past error, I still chose this clinic for my Portuguese Water Dog puppy, partly because the veterinarian owns two dogs of this breed and I was genuinely happy to continue with them. I have even recommended this clinic to two close friends, who are now patients there. I am deeply saddened and shocked by how this was handled. This was not just about missing one appointment, it was about trust, professionalism, and patient care.
