Took a class with Clare (not sure of her spelling) on 4/5/25. Parking was not easy to find in the area (street only) with many trying to double park in maybe not the best area of town. While her set up showing us how to mold and center the clay on the wheel with using water was good, I struggled after that and she was really no help at all from that point on. She came over and molded my piece that was falling apart in seconds but never told or showed me any better pointers on how to do it. She was very friendly and pleasant but not a good teacher in getting me to learn how to do the process for this. She told us there were 15 minutes left and to start wrapping up and after cleaning our area up and we looked at the clock, it was not even 12. We started at 11am and was supposed to be a 2 hour class. We kind of stood around the last hour and she showed a hand wheel thing to mold the clay but that's not why went there. Less than one hour on the spinning wheel as there were only 6 of us there. She could have easily spent 15-20 minutes with each of us for a 2 hour class and that did not happen. I was maybe given 1 minute of personal time in the first hour at best. Very disappointing in spending a lot of money with no real teaching of how to get a grasp on how to do the process better. Having never done this before, the over experience was kind of fun at 8.5/10 but the teaching and showing us how to do it all was more like a 3/10. She seemed very experienced on what she was doing, but just not a good teacher in showing others in my opinion. I'd love to try this again but not here.
I took a wheel class with Emily as the instructor and it was SO AWESOME!!! Highly recommend. Such a welcoming environment with lots of encouragement and guidance. Am so excited to get my pieces back!!!! She told us that they are microwave, dishwasher, and food safe :)
This studio offers affordable classes ranging from one day to weekly classes for 4 or 6 consecutive weeks. Everyone I’ve met has been beyond friendly. Subscribe to their newsletter and get updates on community events and classes. Side note, Remy is an excellent teacher!
Loved the two hour affordable class during the evening. Good people, small group, fun, creative, made something useful, and I signed up for another class. I plan on trying a few different styles of ceramics with the shorter intro classes and then decide if there is one I like best and will take a more intensive class. Class spaces fill fast so sign up for their email list and don't wait to book!
