I recently purchased four books from this store, and while I hadn’t read one of the books because I downloaded a soft copy, I later attempted to return it. The cashier immediately claimed I had already read the book. I explained that I had bought four books that day, making it unreasonable to assume I could have finished them all in just two weeks. I also pointed out that the book was in the same condition as when I purchased it, but she refused to listen. As a regular customer who was even buying another book during this visit, I was shocked by her stubborn attitude. Despite the book being in excellent condition, she seemed to have made up her mind before hearing me out. Additionally, the staff is rarely available when you need help, which makes the shopping experience even more frustrating. This experience has left me deeply disappointed, and I will not be returning to this store. To other customers: I highly recommend taking photos of your books from all angles at the time of purchase, in case you need to return them. While I understand the need for strict return policies due to misuse by some, there are genuine cases where returns are warranted, and customers deserve to be treated fairly and respectfully. Unfortunately, that’s not the case here, as it seems some staff prioritize being “right” over offering good customer service.

I had such a wonderful experience at the Pickering Coles! The staff is incredibly friendly and always available to help. Eliza, in particular, was amazing—she helped me find a book and walked me through tons of great options. I ended up with Funny Story, and I’m already loving it! Plus, the young blonde at the cash was so sweet and made checkout such a nice experience. Definitely can’t wait to come back!

I kind of love how compact this store is. I wouldn't be wandering for an hour trying to look for everything. The sales table at the back has a great amount of products that I picked up. The lady at the register was so nice, she went to go grab something that came with an item I picked up and even brought a nicer looking one. She wrapped the fragile items nicely as well. Overall, nice atmosphere for shopping and the staff is great.

Enjoyed my visit to this book store. It's good to go into a real book store once in a while. Staff were available when I had a question. Located in Pickering Town Centre.
