Customer experiences
After 28 hours in emerge and 4 days of being admitted. I can say the majority of the nurses here are pretty good. The nurses on the 3rd floor were amazing and so accommodating. They did whatever they could to help your stay be a bit more comfortable. I was quite impressed. A few years back when my gram was there I could not say the same. So it’s nice to see the change. The only reason I gave it a 4 star was because I had one nurse who didn’t do her job properly and it could had turned bad for me fast. But I spoke with the administrator and he will investigate. Overall I’m impressed with the changes happening at the hospital here.
DO NOT GO TO THIS "HOSPITAL"!!!!! GO TO DUNNVILLE SIMCOE OR HAMILTON! Place is a disgusting and vile hellhole. EVEN BEING BROUGHT IN BY AMBULANCE THEY WILL NOT EVEN LOOK IN YOUR DIRECTION FOR HOURS!!!! They will medically gaslit you. Ignore everything you have to say than when they do eventually find something will say "we can't help you." Anyone donating money to this place needs to seriously look into where those funds are going. Place NEEDS to be shut down. Multiple times in this ER, everytime there is blood, bugs, vomit, urine or a combination of all on the floors of the rooms. Nurses make you immediately feel like you shouldn't be there or they have something more important to do than actually help anyone. I've never met such horrible humans working in healthcare as in this hospital.
I am extremely disappointed with the treatment my daughter received from “Doctor” Catherine Sellens at Hagersville General Hospital. My 12-year-old daughter underwent the same procedure at McMaster Children’s Hospital, where the doctors showed compassion, calmed her anxiety, and even sent her home with a Tim Hortons gift card. The experience there was supportive and child-centered. At Hagersville, however, the experience was the opposite. My 10-year-old daughter—already scared—had her mouth forcibly covered by Dr. Sellens, and had a bruise on her wrist from where she was grabbed, while her 12-year-old sister was yelled at simply for standing outside the room looking in and trying to comfort her sister. This behavior was not only unprofessional, but also deeply distressing for both my children. The hospital itself looked unclean and poorly maintained, and unfortunately Dr. Sellens presented herself in the same manner. I am truly disgusted by what took place. Someone in her position should not be treating children. At the very least, she should be reassigned to a facility that does not care for pediatric patients. It is clear from other reviews that my experience is not isolated. Hagersville Hospital needs to take serious steps toward improving both the cleanliness of the facility and the professionalism of its staff. Retirement would frankly be the most appropriate option for Dr. Sellens given her behavior.
I came in yesterday to ER. Everyone was exceptionally nice except for one nurse who told me her name was Marjorie. I will find out if that is true when I call and talk to her manager tomorrow. I had severe pains. I came in and the triage was nice, and ward clerk was nice too. The doctor who saw me was great. I was there from who it 3pm had X-rays and bloodwork right away. The X-ray tech, honestly really nice. The girl who did my blood work made me smile when I hadn't smiled in a couple days trying to say my name. Everyone was great, except this Marjorie. I will still give this a 5 star because I can't let one bad apple ruin the review. My ER nurse Rena absolutely Phenomenal. She is one of the best nurses I have actually ever had anywhere. You can tell that nursing is a passion and she's meant to help People. She's probably such the best mom, a hard worker and honestly there's very little nurses like her anymore. She's beyond wonderful. She turned my experience with the one nurse around quickly and was always pleasant. Marjorie on the other hand it was 6:55pm, I know this is shift change. I just asked her in passing if I could see my nurse. At this point I'm crying because my pain level is 10/10, and I am so dehydrated. I really wanted to get my medication in so I could get home to my kids. She turned around and told me that isn't her problem and she's not on the clock. I'm Not sure what kind of human being would talk to someone like this being in the profession they are in and also on the clock. I couldn't believe it, I know a thing or two about how shift change works and how things are run. That's not an acceptable answer. The right thing would to be is tell me I'll grab your nurse, we're just doing shift change. Hang tight. I have never heard of anyone speaking to any of the patients like this in my career. I am dumbfounded that this is okay to do by her. I will be talking to management tomorrow as this is not acceptable and if this is the way she's talking to me on a first interaction this is the way she's talks to everyone. If you don't like your job Marjorie you should find something else to do.
