Customer experiences

This is the second house for which we have used Charters in Bishops Waltham, having previously tried other estate agents. We found their local property knowledge and professionalism, under Andrew’s stewardship, to be second to none, with honest and timely advice throughout. We have recommended Charters to others, who have also been very happy with the service.

Initial contact with Charters was very good and professional. The staff who conducted viewings were polite and communicative. However, at times I was asked to do my own viewings because they were too busy. Once the house was sold, communication became poor, and I felt that the buyer was given more priority than us. We purchased through Charters too, and I found a senior member in the branch to be rude, which made me feel uncomfortable. On completion, there was no excitement, congratulations, or even a small token of appreciation for selling and buying through them. I know other estate agents often provide flowers or a small gift. There was also no communication post-sale, not even a receipt of payment for their fee or any acknowledgment of gratitude. Honestly, they took £13,000 for very little work. I don’t like how you deal with so many different people there, I’d prefer to stick with one agent throughout the whole process. Would I recommend them? Sadly, no. However, As I say, the chaps that did the viewings were a pleasure to deal with.

Stephen Henry was a complete star throughout the whole process. He is the stand-out team member as far as we are concerned. He absolutely smashed the continuity and all the behind-the-scenes chasing. We have bought and sold more times than we care to remember, but Stephen made this move so much easier. He was completely on the ball and always cheerful, polite and very practical in all our conversations. THANK YOU.

Be careful when viewing houses with Charters. The estate agents will just lie and make things up. It was quite an experience talking to the seller and realising quite how many lies the estate agent had told. Probably the most annoying is that I was told the floor was engineered wood - it's actually vinyl. He also told me that the sellers would move as soon as the house sale went through - this was untrue. The sellers had stipulated that they would not move until the school holidays. The seller was surprised I didn't already know this.
