Extremely disappointing experience. Do not bring your jewelry here for resizing or repairs. TLDR: very slow turn around times, dismissive owner, returned my ring without completing a repair, resized my ring 3 times due to errors on their end, prioritizes profits over people My husband purchased my engagement ring at this location. The ring is beautiful, and the purchasing experience was smooth. After the proposal, I returned to have the ring resized. The associate quickly determined my size, but when the ring came back after 3+ weeks, it still felt too loose. Another associate agreed and recommended going down a size. The ring ended up being resized 2 more times before it finally fit properly. Each time, the sizing was slightly off (confirmed by their own sizing stick), and they attributed it to the shape of the band. Before my wedding, they couldn’t complete the final resizing in time, so I had to wear a plastic spacer on the day. They were always very apologetic and eager to finally get it right. For this reason, I never thought about leaving a negative review. Recently, I noticed one of the channel diamonds shifting. They offered to tighten it at no charge, acknowledging the movement was likely due to the repeated resizings. After 2 weeks, I picked it up, only to find the stone still loose, and the ring appeared untouched. I took it to another jeweler who confirmed that multiple side stones were loose and was surprised it had been returned to me in that condition, especially after 2 weeks. I called and spoke to the owner to share my experience. He was initially very apologetic and admitted he was embarrassed that the ring had been returned without the stones tightened. But his tone changed once I asked to be refunded for my initial resizing fee (which was only $110). He became dismissive, condescending, and said no money would be returned, since the ring was eventually resized. He reminded me it was a clearance ring and that they don’t offer free resizing on clearance items, despite the ongoing issues. He showed no accountability or empathy for my experience or the out of pocket expense I incurred to tighten the stones, and he seemed content losing a customer. Overall, a disappointing and frustrating experience worsened by an owner that prioritizes profit over people. Response to owner: As you can see from many other reviews, my experience with your repair team is common, not an anomaly. The initial resizing charge was never the issue, the issue was that your team required multiple resizings to complete the job. The initial size was the recommendation of your associate (I later learned this was not my size), and as I do not wear rings, I went with her recommendation. Customers should be able to trust your associates’ recommendations. The resizings that followed were due to errors by your repair team, which was confirmed by the associates at pick up. There was never an instance when my ring was ready within 3 days. Eastgate always has a 3+ week turnaround. Upper James is faster, which is why we went there for two resizings. I ended our relationship when I brought my ring to another jeweller for a second opinion. The jeweller was shocked that the stones were not tightened during the last resizing (as that is standard practice), and he was even more surprised that your team was unable to tighten the stones after two weeks. This caused me to lose trust in your team’s ability to complete the repair. I have chosen to pay out-of-pocket somewhere else that has the skills required for my repair, even though your associate asked me to bring it back in for free. I purchased my wedding band in September 2024 at another shop, it was sized by their team and I’ve never had issues. I think it’s important to ask why my ring needed to be sized twice in January 2025. As you mentioned, the truth can be read between the lines. My wedding band was sized once and fits perfectly, but as per your own account, my engagement ring was sized 5 times by your team and then required 2 additional repairs to tighten the side diamonds.

I’ve been bursting to write my review since my husband and I picked up the one solitaire ring we had H.William Jewellers design for me last month. From the first moment we stepped into the store, we were greeted by Renee who gave her full attention to us. She listened to our vision for the diamond and she carefully showed us the many visions of ring bands that would enhance the diamond. Her professional knowledge, expertise, and exceptional listening to our vision lead to the most beautiful creation where the diamond became the star! Renee and the staff were so friendly and you could tell that they are customer focused. I would recommend H William Jewellers for creating your personal deigns or for purchasing any of the high quality of beautiful jewelry they sell. Thank you for an amazing experience. I know my husband and I will be back to create our next project.

So let me start by saying I have been doing business for over 7 years, and can I tell you that, the store and the jewelry is broken, I places, Today I went in to pick up my jewelry from repair, I had a bracelet that was broken in one spot, I had paid for repair to be done on the bracelet, my instructions to Carter were to Sauder both ends of the bracelet so it would not have to option to open it would just be a solid round bracelet, after picking it up and getting home I realized it was not done, I returned to the store the today and I explained to Piage who say the notes and understand what happened, she then went to Sam and explained to her what happened, Sam then said that the one spot the worked on was difficult and that it took multiple sanders, the moment she started making up all the reasons to not refund me for the work that was not. Done, I have had multiple issues over the years however I have always returned because I have a good relationship with Dina, today was my last straw, I run on principle and you don’t charge to do something, don’t do it and refuse to refund the clients money, Sam was very defensive from the moment she saw me, she was rude and very condescending, I have spent thousands with H William jewelry, I hate to say it but the way she interacted with me and the way she interacted with another customer that came in was night and day, my advice if you are looking for honesty and transparency Don’t go there, there are many other stores in Hamilton that will be honest and credible. Sam need to be removed from the from the front line of serving customers.
