Great school to get a solid Christian education. I appreciate that BJU stands upon the cardinal doctrines, the fundamentals, of the Christian faith. You will definitely learn God's Word here and the glorious Gospel of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You will also learn how to be an ambassador for our Lord to this lost and dying world.

So many of my children have attended here. So thankful they could be such a wonderful environment where they bring Glory to Lord God Almighty. They can study with a Biblical Worldview and hear God’s Truth. The Gospel is lived out there

Some of the worst years of my life were spent here. I cannot express the regret I have attending there. If there was a reason why I was there, I have yet to see it. The only reason why I wont give it 1 star are the music groups they have. I participated in a few groups and those are my only good memories of that place. Looking back on my time there, its just sad realizing the non monetary costs of attending there. Unless your last name carries political weight with it, you are at a disadvantage and are seen as classroom filler or a money source to sure up their financial issues. To show an example of the pettiness of some of the faculty there, I'll give an example of how I was part of two chapel illustrations. First, during the day of prayer (which I believe is not a thing anymore) me and my prayer partner started talking after we prayed. A few weeks later the faculty member who was supervising the group used me and my partner as an illustration of how God works in some people and in others he does not and are like "...the chaff which the wind drives away..." A somewhat Calvinistic viewpoint too. The second was when I was walking through the parking lot and I threw a empty cup in on of my friends truck bed. Brian Hand, a faculty member was passing by. A few months later he used it as an illustration of the carelessness of unbelievers - as if he assumed I was an unbeliever by throwing an empty cup in the bed of a friends truck. This is what you may deal with there. Are all faculty members this way? No, and there are some good ones there such as Paul Overly, Christopher Zydowicz, and retired Dan Turner. But good faculty exist outside of so called Christian universities and if you're reading this, I would recommend you look elsewhere as a place to attend college.

It’s a cult. They believe that it is their job to take over the role of parent when the students arrive on campus. They force their personal preferences on students. The only music that is allowed for personal listening is conservative Christian music (think piano, organ, strings, and operatic vocals). Anything with rhythm or a beat is considered “ungodly” and will get you demerits. Pants for women and jeans for anyone will get you demerits (unless you wear them to a ball game). Shorts are not allowed (unless you are playing sports). Tshirts to class are not allowed (only collared shirts). Headphones are not allowed. A Christian nationalist agenda is pushed onto the students by the administration. Church attendance is required (which is understandable) but ONLY churches that the school approves of - their list consists of certain IFB churches or Presbyterian churches. Non-denominational, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Episcopalian, and Pentecostal churches are not approved of. You have to tell them which church you attended each week. When you go to church or anywhere off campus, you have to secure a pass to leave the school. Passes are only approved if the students leaving are all male or all female (unless a “mixed group” of male and female students has a chaperone or student with advanced privileges). Advanced privileges are only given to students their sophomore year or higher provided they are also a room leader or group leader in the dorms. Age does not matter. You can be 25 years old living in the dorms and if you don’t adhere to being “willing to serve” as room leader then you don’t have advanced privileges. They foster a community of surveillance and snitching. You literally have to watch your back everywhere you go and everything you do. If anything is remotely “against the rules,” fellow students will turn you in to get demerits. This includes students turning in fellow students for the wearing of sweatshirts or pants that look like jeans. Pros - not all students and faculty/staff are fully in the cult mentality. You can still make some good friends and have some good experiences. My professors were overall focused on education as opposed to indoctrination (with some exceptions). My biggest regret in life was graduating from the most un-Christian university in the world (BJU), but I am still thankful for the experience because without experiencing what the cult is I may have never left the fundamental Christianity I was born and raised in and found freedom outside of the rules and regulations of hypocritical religion that seeks to control others.
