Stayed here for a Saturday night. Very welcoming and friendly staff and let us get into the room early which was extremely handy. Room perfect and comfy bed. Tea, coffee, small fridge with milk, water and yoghurt ready for morning snack, muffins and granola. Permit for parking. Lovely pub with nice outside area. Very handy for town. Would definitely stay there again and look forward to it.

Met friends for lunch yesterday. Not been here before but it reviewed well so we thought we would give it a try. A warm welcome, really nice pub atmosphere and decor and the staff were great. We waited a while for the food but they were busy and it was understandable and not a problem. When choosing what to eat, we saw their Sunday lunches go past and they looked amazing so two of our party ordered. Unfortunately they were disappointing. The roast potatoes tasted like they had been cooked, frozen and then reheated. I love a potato but honestly they were not nice at all and not even crispy. The cauliflower cheese didn’t taste cheesy we thought they might have forgotten to put the cheese in and the gravy tasted like bisto. To give credit where due the meat and the Yorkshire pudding were good. |It was such a shame as we wanted to live the meal, but when you spend best part of £200 for a party of 6 you want to love it

Cozy comfort in a quirky feast for the eyes. Couldn't believe our luck in booking a room in this fabulous old pub. Beautiful quiet room, comfortable bed, excellent food downstairs (we ate here twice and were so glad we did), good beer, lively atmosphere of all ages, in an historic neighbourhood in walking distance to the city centre and major sites. Very friendly service. Brilliant host. Would return tomorrow.

Excellent pub with extremely friendly staff and landlady. I have been having some afternoon meetings in this very cosy pub and this evening had the chance to try their food. A perfect ham egg and chips hit the spot. Feels like a country pub in the back streets of Winchester. Who could ask for more. Looking forward to many more visits and working my way through the menu. Pub was full to the brim when I left at 7pm so best to book I guess if you are visiting.
