We switched to a propane hot water on demand system. By the time i go it installed got the receipt and submitted it. They removed the item from their list so I ended up with no rebate. Installed an energy efficient furnace. They decided to send a letter instead of calling or email me to notify me they needed additional paperwork. I tried to submit the receipt by email and now its to late and they wont accept it.

Contractors- be warned with this group. They are happy to cherry pick you, then screw you. Grant applicants- use extreem caution they will screw you to in a heart beat. They are always looking for an excuse to go back on their agreements. Then they just stop responding. Even will threaten calling the rcmp for harassment for asking for a call back. Just another government institution that canadians would be better without

I feel obligated to update my review from 5* down. In the last few years the AEA has steadily removed rebates for Yellowknifers and other communities that are designated "hydro" communities. Solar rebates no longer exist for YK and many others. First off, YK is regularly running on diesel power with all the issues the dam has been having. Second, the cost of electricity is so prohibitive in the NWT, home heating with electric is hardly feasible. If they want to get people off fossil fuels it would still make sense to allow subsidies for solar in these communities. They even removed programs for home heating conversions. The last 6 years feels like the AEA has been run by the energy companies up North, not an independent non-profit for the people.

Submitted documentation for rebates and was told the federal funding was not obtained for them so no rebates for anyone. Very poorly run program if it can run out of funding. Do not waste your time taking rebates into account when you budget appliance upgrades or replacements.
